Our largest urban school had a special Sports and Dress-up day for all the students and invited the local community to attend.

Through the generosity of Australian supporters, the Caleb Foundation purchased a single room school in a rural village in the northern part of the country that had been closed for some years and the local children had not been attending any school. The building was renovated and expanded in late 2025. It opened for the new school year in January. Enrolments have continued to increase through the first half of 2026.
To have a school in the village is a great blessing and a wonderful outreach.

Our new school in the Gazipur District commenced its second school year in January 2023. Our school opened in January 2022 when all schools in Bangladesh were able to restart after an 18 month Covid closure. The school offers the national curriculum from Kindergarten to Year 10. The school is open to everyone from all ethnic and religious backgrounds and is staffed by local, fully qualified teachers. We have 60 enrollments in 2023 and the staff is working to build it up to 100 by the end of the year. The building is designed to allow for the construction up to 6 floors over time to accommodate expansions in enrollments.
Work started in late January on a new Multi-purpose Educational Facility in the Sherpur district. The land was raised above flood level over a year ago and allowed to settle. This will provide much needed facilities for Adult Literacy, Skills Training and Health Awareness programs. Up to this point the community members have been meeting in the open or in cramped private homes in inclement weather. The building is scheduled for completion in April. Funds are currently required to complete the internal fit-out through our Multi-purpose Education Building Fund.
The inaugural Edna Doherty Award for the Most Improved Student in 2022 was awarded to Moinuddin. Students from all grades in our new Tongi school are eligible for the award in memory of Edna Doherty. Moinuddin progressed very well through the course of his first year at the school and ended up topping 1st Grade in the end of year examinations.
The annual prize was presented in front of the whole school.
